Have you thought about returning to nursing?

Friday, February 12, 2021

Frimley Health & Care is delighted to offer Return to Practice opportunities for nurses wishing to work in primary care.

What is Return to Practice?

Return to Practice (RtP) gives those who have previously been Registered Nurses the opportunity to return to the profession by undertaking a return to nursing practice course. The scheme works in partnership with universities to support students by providing clinical placements in GP practices and other organisations.

Working in primary care can offer a multitude of opportunities, including supporting all ages in the community, delivering continuity of care, liaising with different health professionals and having the opportunity to learn the skills to become a GP nurse.

As part of the programme, students will have to complete a minimum requirement of 150 practice hours in clinical practice (the amount of practice time varies depending on the length of time out of practice). The RtP course is a combination of classroom and placement-based learning which takes between three and six months to complete.

Health Education England funds the university tuition fees and also provides a £500 bursary towards travel, childcare costs etc.

Entry requirements

Students who have previously been on the UKCC/NMC register, but whose registration has lapsed (and therefore do not meet the requirements to maintain that registration with the NMC); students who have an interest in working in primary care.
