Train to be a software developer 

Technology company Roke is looking to train people from the Armed Forces community as software developers, before placing them in a full-time role. Successful candidates will be paid throughout their training, with a salary review after successfully completing the programme. 

The opportunity is open to military spouses as well as Service leavers and reservists. 

What skills do I need? 

You will need to be IT competent, have a keen interest in becoming a software developer and keen to learn. 

How do I apply? 

You’ll need to register for a digital skills assessment. You must also be located within 45 minutes of Woking.  

Once accepted onto the training programme, the Roke Academy will pay you a salary of £30,000 enrol you into the company's pension scheme. Once you graduate from the academy and move into a Roke team, you will receive a salary review. 

Training begins in June and there are two phases: 

Phase 1 

The first phase (13 weeks) focuses on programming languages such as Python and Javascript, programming frameworks such as Dockers, Kubernetes and Node, and methodologies such as DevOps, Agile and Cloud Computing. 

Phase 2 

During the second phase (11 weeks) you will apply the skills you've learnt to live projects.
