Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Burnley’s Armed Forces Covenant complements, at a local level, the national Armed Forces Covenant, which outlines the support offered to in-service and ex-service personnel from the nation, the Government and the Armed Forces. It promotes understanding and awareness among the public of issues affecting the armed forces community.
The Council is committed to working with partners to provide help and support as our veterans adapt to live outside the military, with regard to housing and employment or by signposting them to places where they can find the support and advice they need.
Burnley Council recognises the skills and abilities that those in the forces can bring to the civilian workplace. As an employer we offer Armed Forces Community employees flexibility and a clear policy framework in which we work to ensure the best employment experience.
