Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Lancashire County Council recognises and values the commitment made by the Armed Forces community and wants to support them in their employment.
The council signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2013. The Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. Its core value is that those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared with other citizens.
We are committed to supporting our employees (and their families) who are members of the Armed Forces community as defined by the Covenant. We offer a range of employee supports and in particular support our Reservists with paid leave to enable them to attend their annual training camp and offer additional leave to support service where required.
We are also committed to recruiting new employees to the county council from the Armed Forces community and welcome job applications from members of the Armed Forces.
About us
Lancashire County Council serves everyone who lives or works in Lancashire, helping people to enjoy a good quality of life. We're also here to provide extra support to the most vulnerable members of our communities. From maintaining our roads and working with schools to deliver a good education, to arranging help at home for people unable to get by on their own, in different ways we touch on the lives of everyone in the county.
We work with others to attract employers to Lancashire and create new jobs, we help you learn new skills and offer a range of advice and support to people starting up their own business.
Some of our services are visible to everyone in Lancashire but there are others you may only know about if you come into direct contact with them. The county council is part of a 'two tier' system of local government, so if you live here you will also have a district council providing some of the services local to your area.
