Advanced Diabetes and Vascular Podiatrist

Band 7 - £46,244 - £53,789 pro rata

plus £1,279 Distant Islands Allowance pro rata

22.3 hours per week

Maternity leave Post Fixed Term to December 2024

 

NHS Western Isles are looking to recruit an experienced Diabetes and Vascular Podiatrist to join their enthusiastic and progressive team based in a rural, general hospital in one of the most spectacular areas of the UK.

Experienced Podiatrists will be competent in the delivery of a high standard of care in a variety of settings and in all aspects of podiatry management with specific experience in managing the at risk foot.

n this role you will be responsible for delivering a high quality, timely, accessible and evidence based clinical pathway for patients as part of the Podiatry service, supporting the podiatry team with active ulcer and high risk clinical caseloads. You will have responsibility for developing relationships with all stakeholders of these pathways ,using your leadership skills you will work with the podiatry manager to help support the development of a seamless MDT approach to the care of this at risk group of patients. You will have a responsibility to educate colleagues and train staff in diabetic foot and wound care including, implementation of integrated pathways of care and delivering on training packages and supervision/mentoring.

 

The Podiatry Department is committed to recognising and developing the skills of its staff and we encourage all the team to undertake training both locally and on the mainland. On site we have an excellent Clinical Skills Centre, Sim Lab, post-graduate library and small orthotics laboratory.

 

We currently have 3.84 WTE podiatrists who specialise in General Practice along with one MSK Extended Scope Practitioner.  You will be joining a team committed to delivering the very best podiatric care including MSK, diabetes, wound management, nail surgery and general podiatry. We deliver care based upon need, via care pathways and Patient Initiated Reviews.  The Service is fully integrated providing both primary and secondary care from modern, well-equipped clinics based in the Western Isles’ three main hospitals.  This post will be based in the Podiatry department in the Western Isles Hospital, Stornoway a 50 bed rural general hospital.

 

HCPC registration is essential. A car owner is essential as we provide care in rural locations, residential homes and domiciliary visits.

The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme. This post is not eligible for relocation expenses.
