Are you looking to work at the second-busiest airport in the UK and the 8th-busiest in Europe?

NATS wants to hear from Air Traffic Engineers or Engineers working in related industries who can pick up new skills quickly. As an Airport Operational Engineer at Gatwick Airport, you'll be supporting Air Traffic Control systems and acting as a focal point for maintenance management on a range of operational engineering systems and functions.

NATS is delivering several new projects at the airport which you could be involved in - advancing aviation and keeping the skies safe.

If you're a highly capable Engineer and don't meet all the requirements & qualifications, we will provide the appropriate levels of training for the right candidate. This not an entry level position, relevant experience is always desirable with the capability to deliver a safe and efficient service.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Plan and carry out planned and corrective maintenance on a range of Air Traffic Control (ATC) Systems
  • Monitor the status of operational safety related equipment to detect any potential degradation of normal operation.
  • Prioritise faults and or direct engineering resources towards a safe and expeditious restoration of service.
  • Make operational decisions; provide guidance, specialist advice and assistance.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records for all activities where required.
  • Fully brief and co-ordinate with ATC and other engineering staff, supervise Airport Maintenance Engineers and contractors ensuring compliance with NATS Management System(s)

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Engineering qualification to Higher National Certificate (NVQ Level 4) as a minimum in Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications or Computer Science and relevant experience.
  • Undertaken structured Engineering training (e.g., recognised apprenticeship)
  • A background as an engineer in one of following areas (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Systems, Maintenance, Controls, Nuclear)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • ATSEP (Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel) Qualified (Desirable but not required, willing to put right candidate through the qualification)
