Job Description

Assistant Educational Psychologist - 2 year fixed term contract

Salary ( 35,228 - 39,341) Soulbury Scale Assistant Educational Psychologist 2-5

We seek to appoint an Assistant Educational Psychologist for a 2 year fixed term contract to commence in September 2024 - August 2026.

Pembrokeshire is one of Britain's special places, combining some of the most spectacular coastal scenery with a unique cultural heritage. Nearly a third of the county is in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park - the only coastal national park in the country and its numerous beaches are renowned as being amongst the finest anywhere. This all makes it a particularly attractive and satisfying area in which to live and work.

The Pembrokeshire Educational Psychology team is concerned with the development, learning, achievement and wellbeing of children and young people. Members of the team work with young people, staff of pre-school settings and schools, and with parents/carers and professional colleagues to try to bring about positive change for children and young people.

We are part of the Inclusion Service working closely with advisory teachers, behaviour support, ASD outreach, the children's disabilities team and colleagues from social care and health to improve outcomes for children and young people across Pembrokeshire.

As an assistant educational psychologist you would be working alongside experienced educational psychologists. Your role would be to support the educational psychologists in their day to day activities and undertake specific tasks under their direction and supervision.

We are an innovative team looking at new ways of working and are committed to developing our service particularly in light of the new statutory reform and wellbeing agenda. We would envisage that the assistant educational psychologist would be closely involved in coordinating and facilitating partnership working and building workforce capacity with a specific focus on Emotionally Based School Avoidance.

This is an exciting opportunity that would enable the post holder to acquire a range of skills and experience in preparation for professional training as an Educational Psychologist.

We would welcome expressions of interest from psychology graduates with relevant experiences within educational settings, particularly those interested in pursuing a career in educational psychology.

For an informal discussion please contact Dr Lorraine Silver (Principal Educational Psychologist) on 01437 776042 lorraine.silver@pembrokeshire.gov.uk
