Assistant Reliability Engineer

 

Salary & Benefits (4b): £38,468 - £48,085 - dependent on experience + company car scheme + up to 10% pension with 5% contribution + annual bonus + retail savings schemes + online GP access + life assurance cover + free on-site parking + 25 days holiday + 1 wellbeing day + bank holidays

 

Location: Buttershaw, Bradford, hybrid Working, usually 2-3 days in the office / on-site per week

 

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Reliability Engineer to join the Strategic Maintenance Planning Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Strategic Maintenance Planning Team is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.  

 

 

The Strategic Maintenance Planning Team (SMP Team) ensure all operational assets have appropriate maintenance plans to ensure reliability, resilience and sustainability and ensure they fulfil customer and stakeholder expectations. This is achieved by applying the right maintenance at the right time to secure cost efficient asset reliability. The SMP Team are building an engineering legacy of competence, leadership and innovation by the application of a planned, dynamic and predictive maintenance approach to provide improved asset reliability and resilience to meet and exceed regulatory performance and provide cost effective maintenance whilst delivering TOTEX benefits across the operational units.

 

 

Where you fit in: 

 

 

As our Assistant Reliability Engineer, you will:

 

 

  • Provide technical support to the Strategic Maintenance Planning Team in way of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations following incidents and failures of process equipment and assets and applying RCM techniques.
  • Review and amend maintenance plans in SAP S/4Hana
  • Update, expand and utilise the Equipment Maintenance List and Equipment Standards documents.
  • Undertaking asset inspection, survey, data collection and audit
  • Undertaking analysis of asset criticality and failure modes through FMEA studies
  • Analysing existing maintenance plans and quantifying shortfalls & improvements.
  • Provide the technical knowledge and expertise to non-technical colleagues and define/embed a risk-based inspection programme into the operational plan.
  • Support Reliability Engineers
  • Identifying legislative, regulatory, safety, customer service, environmental, performance and cost impact of asset failure

 

 

What skills & qualifications you will need: 

 

 

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably an ICA background) and eligibility for future Incorporated / Chartered status (preferably ICA background)
  • Great understanding of applying RCM techniques (FMEA / RBM)
  • Applying RA techniques to problem solve breakdowns / failures
  • Ability to transfer (under guidance from more experienced colleagues) policy into standards, procedures, process, plans and guidance
  • A practical working knowledge of MEICA asset design, material selection, fabrication and materials joining techniques. 
  • An analytical approach to identifying problems and solutions
  • Working knowledge of SAP S/4Hana preferable 

 

 

You will also benefit from having: 

 

 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and present numerical and engineering data within the broader YWS community. 
  • Good administrative capability, methodical with a well-developed attention to detail. 
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and expansion of your technical knowledge through CPD
  • Knowledge of SAP configuration
  • Familiarisation / background in Water Industry would be an advantage, but not essential

 

 

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 2 to 3 days in the office or on-site per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
