Job Purpose
As an Assistant Shift Control Engineer, you will operate within the ECC technical office and ECC Control Room as determined by Operational and Training requirements. While working within the Control Room, reporting to the Shift Control Manager, the Assistant Control Engineer is responsible for the real time control and integrity of specific distribution systems, ensuring system safety and security are always maintained.
Trained within the Technical office to one of three critically important functions including SCADA, Operational Strategy and Network Analysis, you'll bring a blended experience to the management of Energy.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will be trained to use automated systems and tools in order to forecast of gas demands. As the Assistant Control Engineer, you will have achieved an appreciation of the control room and technical office roles within the Energy Control Centre, undertaking analysis and using your knowledge undertake a crucial technical function and be able to operate any one of up to two networks.
You will assist in ensuring emergency preparedness of self, applying expert judgement during non-standard and emergency conditions. Supporting the Shift Control Manager and Technical Manager as required, carrying out critical analysis and challenging of established procedures, escalating as appropriate.
Skills and Experience
As an Assistant Shift Control Engineer, we are looking for colleagues with gas or engineering experience with willingness to progress their career in Engineering. We will support you with on the job training and help you achieve your professional qualifications with appropriate professional bodies such as IGEM, IMechE, IET as appropriate.
This role requires shifts to be undertaken while within the Control Room (Mornings and Afternoons, Monday - Friday) and will attract relevant compensation as required.
You will also be required to undertake a National Security Vetting Check as part of the onboarding process.
