Job Description

As a Catering Supervisor at Sodexo in our prestigious Edinburgh Academy Senior School, you will be responsible for overseeing all service aspects of our catering operations and will need to be an excellent leader who can motivate a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. You will require excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as strong attention to detail. What you'll do: 

  • Ensure completion of all requested or contracted tasks while keeping your team motivated to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Oversee all areas of the kitchen/catering department, ensuring areas are kept clean and hygienic.
  • Oversee the ordering of stock and consumables while keeping up-to-date accounts and supporting the higher management with end-of-month reporting.
  • Lead by example, encouraging your team to remain motivated and ensuring they are providing a great level of service, all while understanding Sodexo's core values and implementing them into their daily work routine.
  • Be a champion of health and safety practices, e.g., If you spot a near miss, report it, keeping you and your colleagues safe!
  • Frequent feedback sessions with your team are necessary to ensure they are confident and happy in their roles.

What you bring: 

  • Positive outlook and ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect 
  • Computer literacy and administration skills
  • A willingness to learn
  • Experience managing a catering department with a proven ability to create and implement new ideas 
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (preferable)
  • Experience managing and leading a team and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to inspire others through your leadership to support and motivate them to reach their full potential. 
  • Experience relating to purchasing, stock controls, and menu planning 
  • Strong communication, organisation, time-management, and people-management skills

Package Description
  • £13.50 per hour
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday  - 7:00am till 3:00pm-some weekend or evening working will be required for School functions and events consisting of Dinners, buffets and BBQ's.  These events can be out with normal working hours, and will be paid enhanced rates or time taken in Lieu when necessary.  The school has Summer school sessions eg. Language school where we cater breakfast, lunch & dinner.
