Boeing Defence UK is looking for a Chinook Continuing Airworthiness Management Support Service (CAMSS) Continuing Airworthiness Management Engineer based at RAF Odiham or AAC Middle Wallop.


The Chinook CAMSS Continuing Airworthiness Management Engineer will provide direct assistance to the BDUK Chinook CAMSS Lead Continuing Airworthiness Management Engineer and the Customer's Chinook Deputy Continuing Airworthiness Manager (DCAM) with the undertaking of Continuing Airworthiness Management activities in general and specific to those air systems allotted to BDUK at RAF Odiham and AAC Middle Wallop undertaking maintenance, modification and development flight test activity.


As part of the delivery of the UK MOD Chinook Through Life Customer Support (TLCS-2) contract and associated tasks, the Chinook CAMSS Continuing Airworthiness Management Engineer will provide Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Publication (MRP) compliant support to the Chinook Military Continuing Airworthiness Manager (Mil CAM).


Some UK travel is expected.

Responsibilities

The role is responsible to the BDUK Continuing Airworthiness Manager and Chinook CAMSS Lead Continuing Airworthiness Management Engineer for:

  • Assisting BDUK Program Managers and BDUK MRP Part 145 Operations Team with establishing a Statement of Work (SOW) for each air system allotted to BDUK.
  • Assist the DCAM in establishing the Aircraft Maintenance Programme (AMP) for each Chinook Air System allotted to BDUK, ensuring that the agreed AMP is executed and that the planned allotment time is utilized effectively and efficiently.
  • Assisting the creation of work packs to include items from the Air System Document Set (ADS) Scheduled Maintenance requirements, issued Special Instruction (Technical) (SI(T)), deferred faults, removal of limitations, repairs or modifications that the Authority has approved.
  • Ensure any open deferred maintenance items, limitations or defects in the air system log book (MOD Form 700) that are due for resolution are reviewed for inclusion in the work pack for each air system as required.
  • Monitor and manage SI(T) planning, execution, reporting and requests for deferment.
  • Ensure that any repair schemes requested, delivered, approved and authorized for use are, if possible, included in the work pack.
  • Monitor and manage cannibalization events including authorization of cannibalization from Category (CAT) 3/4 aircraft undergoing repair in liaison with the Chinook DCAM.
  • Ensure that the weight and moment statement reflects the current status of each air system allotted to BDUK.
  • Raise issues with the BDUK Chinook Lead Continuing Airworthiness Management Engineer if there is any issue that will prevent success of the plan.
  • For emergent work arising ensure the BDUK Reliability Engineer is made aware.
  • Support Flight Readiness Reviews according to BDUK procedures.
  • Conduct Continuing Airworthiness Assurance Reviews according to BDUK procedures.
  • Support internal and external Quality Assurance Audits and associated Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and corrective action plans.
  • Attend relevant Chinook Military Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (Mil CAMO), Customer and Program meetings for the TLCS-2 Contract and associated Tasks.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the BDUK Interface Control Documents (ICD) with the Chinook Mil CAM, Boeing Accountable Manager (Military Flying), Boeing MRP Part 21J Design Organisation and Boeing-contracted MRP Part 145 AMOs.
  • Support the development and improvement of BDUK Chinook CAMSS continuing airworthiness processes.
  • Assure the correct and proper use of the BDUK Safety Management System.
  • Assure the correct and proper use of the BDUK Quality Management System, supporting internal and external Quality Assurance Audits and associated Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and corrective action plans.

Required Experience

  • Experience in the application of MAA Regulations and UK MoD airworthiness policies, processes and culture in an aircraft operations environment.
  • A good knowledge of MRP Part M requirements & procedures
  • A good knowledge of MRP Part 145 requirements & procedures
  • An understanding of Aviation Duty Holder and Accountable Manager (Military Flying) requirements and procedures.
  • Specific CH-47 Chinook air system experience and product knowledge.

Desirable Experience

  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively on the planning of work, and develop/use meaningful metrics to evaluate compliance status and provide performance visibility.
  • Able to effectively execute opportunities to improve strategies, processes and project plans. Assist the removal of obstacles by identifying where and what help is needed and coordinating with the appropriate leaders and team members.
  • Strong communication skills, technical competency, and skills with logistics information and maintenance management tools.
  • Previous industry or military service continuing airworthiness engineering experience.
  • Able to demonstrate experience in the application of air safety standards & safe operating practices.
  • A knowledge of quality management systems including AS9100.
  • Experience in the application of UK MAA MRP, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), European Defence Agency (EDA) or Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and other international standards for continuing airworthiness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level 3 Qualification (BTEC/NVQ) in an Aerospace discipline
  • HNC/HND or higher
