What you'll be doing:

  • Responsible for the development and leadership of a team of Mechanical Engineers in the Test Section
  • Responsible for delivering the Ship Test Section Mechanical Programme
  • Review, authorise and evaluate test documentation to enable delivery of a testing/commissioning programme and support contractual acceptance
  • Deputise for the Commissioning Manager in their absence and act as temporary lead, covering all section meetings
  • Liaise with other test departments and sections to ensure safe control of work, and collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders including operations and engineering
  • Demonstrate SHE behaviours in-line with company SHE policy and a zero tolerance toward unsafe acts and conditions

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • HND or degree qualified in an engineering subject, or equivalent experience
  • Managing a team of people to deliver their aspect of a complex, diverse and challenging engineering delivery programme
  • Working knowledge of the Engineering Lifecycle
  • Aware of statutory regulations

Desirable:

  • Maritime background would be preferrable
  • Specialist engineering knowledge and experience in a subject area
  • Knowledge and experience of Submarine Ship systems and equipment - Hydraulics, High Pressure Air, Trim & Ballast Systems, etc

The Ship Test Section team:

As the Commissioning Project Lead - Mechanical (STS) you will play a pivotal role throughout the lifecycle of the project and will significantly shape the direction the project takes. You will be given the opportunity to not only assist but help develop a team of up to 10 engineers throughout the project whilst working on progression and being part of future Submarine projects.
