Job Role

 

Come and join us in this new role of Community Youth Coach on our new Futures Contract.  The aim is to shape the future for young people of Worcestershire to find employment and empower to fulfil  sustainable careers.

The role of the Community Youth Coach is to focus on supporting young people aged 16-24 years old. You'll deliver interventions and provide relevant guidance to equip young people with the skills necessary to enter and thrive in the workplace.

You'll seek to address a participant's barriers to gaining new employment with tailored support for each participant to achieve and sustain good quality work in their local communities. This will include one-to-one focussed job search advice, guidance on re-training options for a different sector and helping to restoring self-esteem of participants. This role plays an important part in helping local participants establish connections within their communities to positively develop themselves further, in health, skills and socially.

Hours:   37 hours a week.  Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 5pm, Friday 8.30 am to 4.30pm

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Build good relationships with local community organisations to facilitate the development of support and referral opportunities for participants. 
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including Local Authorities and Job Centre Plus.
  • Partnership working with core delivery partners and specialist partners to reach the wider goals of the project aims and to share opportunities. 
  • Meet, and strive to exceed, KPI (Key Performance Indicators).

Skills and Experience

 

Essential

  • Networking experience and the ability to build strong, good working relationships internally, across partnerships, and external stakeholders. 
  • Experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, health conditions and disabilities
  • Having the combination of experience and empathy towards people who are disadvantaged and understanding of barriers to employment and participants progression.
  • Understanding of how to affect positive behaviour change.
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Fully IT literate in using a range of Microsoft Office programs to include 365 products and modern digital technologies, i.e. Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business
  • Knowledge of working in an environment that is driven by targets.
  • A background in delivering services that meet contractual and quality standards.
     

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the employability industry 
  • Experience of working with people in the provision of Information, Advice & Guidance' 
  • Full driving license to enable deployment across Worcestershire when required.
  • Expertise in successfully interacting with economically inactive populations.
