This role is within our Networks Distribution IT team supporting our Digital strategy and vision to be a progressive network owner, using digital to enhance social and economic value, deliver a leading experience for our customers and to enable the energy system to support net zero carbon emissions.

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in Perth, Glasgow, Havant or Reading

Salary: £45,400 - £68,200 (depending on skills and experience) + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

As Data Governance Lead, you'll help create and watch over Data Governance rules within SSEN Distribution. Your aim is to make data safe, trustworthy, and useful for business growth.

You'll support the Data & Information Manager in the Data and Analytics Team with the implementation of a group wide strategy and the provision of services to help drive the change and transformation required for effective Data Governance. The focus of this role is on raising awareness of Data Governance across SSEN Distribution, developing, and maintaining standards and guidance and reporting compliance against these standards.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

- Delivery of the SSEN Distribution Data Management strategy supporting the Distribution Data Integration strategy, partnering with senior business stakeholders to develop into an integral part of business strategy.

- Deliver an agreed program of work to shift the dial on cultural change and transformation required within SSEN Distribution to unlock the value of data and information. Challenge poor organisational behaviour around data and information management. Partner with senior business stakeholders (Distribution, IT Group and external partners) to introduce value driven and prioritised critical data management activities which deliver tangible improvements to business insight, performance, profitability and stakeholder needs.

- Responsible for delivery and implementation of SSEN Distribution policies, standards, and guidelines for Data Management, ensuring that uniformly recognised and accepted data definitions and classifications are developed and applied throughout the organisation. Build stewardship and data ownership communities to implement governance and policy frameworks applicable across the SSEN Distribution business for the effective management of data.

- Develop and report against quantitative and qualitative measures that demonstrate the growth of Data Governance capabilities across SSEN Distribution and illustrate the resultant benefits in terms of risk reduction and business value opportunities.

- Identification and development of the management framework for optimal trusted data sources for the Distribution Data and Analytics Platform, and wider SSEN Distribution use. Deliver data assurance service for analytics data sources and processes to capture and manage data quality issues.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Demonstrable knowledge and expertise in Data Governance.

- A strong understanding of the issues and opportunities facing an increasingly data-driven and digitalised Energy sector.

- Knowledge and experience of market leading Data Governance tools such as Informatica, Purview, Unity Catalog.

- Engaging and inclusive with ability to create and manage good relationships and build trust with internal and external stakeholders.

- Ability to communicate and convey information to diverse audiences in a way that is easily understood and actionable.
