Our vessels provide a range of support, which include for example: dive support, military training, submarine rescue exercises, target/test equipment deployment/recovery and passenger transfers.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Deck Rating to join our fantastic team in Portsmouth on a Fixed Term Contract for 6 months. The purpose of the position is to act as the main labour force aboard any vessel or facility that requires an AB grade. The Deck Rating will carry out a range of duties in the task of assisting in the safe operation of the vessel or the handling of its cargo.

 

Main Accountabilities:

 

  • Berthing/Slipping of the Vessel.  
  • Ship Husbandry Tasks. 
  • Mooring up of the Vessel when going to anchor.  
  • Ship Operational Tasks.
  • Cleaning Tasks as directed by the Line Manager. 
  • Emergency equipment and procedures and location and use of firefighting equipment.  
  • Drive deck machinery including cranes.  
  • Assist in repair and maintenance of ship's equipment. 
  • Machinery care, routine maintenance and lubrication as directed by the Barge Master.
  • Issuing and Receiving cargo
  • Valve operation
  • Hose and connector handling
  • Crane operations
  • Ensure measures to prevent pollution of the environment are exercised
  • Rope handling
  • General maintenance and ships husbandry
  • Other deck related tasking's through the port as reasonable appropriate to qualification and experience
  • To live locally and be within daily commuting distance of Portsmouth Naval Base support with other tasks deemed necessary to support the business requirements.
