Hemiko is a fast-growing innovative business which is looking to invest in and deliver over £1bn of heat network projects in the coming years. We fund, design build, operate and maintain low carbon district energy networks and building energy systems. This work is for communities, towns and cities We work with local authorities, developers, house builders and property owners.

We are looking to lead on city scale decarbonisation. We recognise that the decarbonisation of heating and the built environment is one of the last known and “solution clear” areas – this is where we are focussed and where we will be deploying our investment and our resources.

Some of our previous and current projects include:

  • The design, installation, operation and funding of district heating system to serve 3500 homes in Clapham as part of a major regeneration project.
  • The design and installation of a heat network in a rural community in Cambridgeshire to replace oil boilers in 300 homes with centralised low carbon heat generation.
  • The design and installation of a ground source heat pump system to provide heating and cooling to a new development of 300 homes a gym and office building in South London.
  • The design, installation and operation of a new city centre wide low carbon district heating system for the City of Cardiff
  • Developing detailed long-term decarbonisation plans for existing large scale district heating networks to allow them to transition from gas fired CHP led generation to low carbon generation.

    Our current project list is extended by 3 significant low carbon heat networks which will evolve over the coming months.

    The Role

    Hemiko are seeking a highly flexible self-starter with demonstrable experience in Project Management / Resource Planning of design engineers in the field of renewable energy and district heating.

    You will be responsible for ensuring that our design engineers meet the project timescales and allocated efficiently to support design delivery ultimately contributing to company success. This role requires a keen understanding of resource management in a professional services context; excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams is essential.

    This position will work across the Development, Pre-Construction and Construction Teams ensuring a seamless transfer of a project from start to completion so it is important that the candidate has a strong technical background so that they can engage with the design engineers.

    This position will also require assisting in engaging with third party contractors to support when the Design Team resource is exhausted.

     

    Specific Tasks

    Participating in the delivery of new energy projects during the pre-construction and construction phases working with and supported by the wider Hemiko Team. In more detail this will include:

  • Managing the Design Team resources across live design projects by implementing systems and tools to track utilisation and availability.
  • Generate reports to provide visibility into resource allocation and utilisation.
  • Communicate resource utilisation trends and recommendations to the team Director.
  • Identify resource gaps and assist in the engagement of 3rd part contractors.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining contact with 3rd party contractor resources to ensure external resources are available when required.
  • Align with Development, Pre-Construction and Construction Teams to understand project requirements, timelines in order to allocate Design Team resources to all new projects.
  • Maintain working design programs and provide regular progress reporting.
  • Assist in the flow of information to the Design Team through an appreciation of the contract requirements.
  • Post project delivery evaluation and reporting identifying areas for improvement and developing more streamlined capabilities.
  • Regular reporting to the team Director

     

    Candidate

    We are looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent management and software skills who enjoys working collaboratively in dynamic multi-professional teams, assisting in all aspects of the delivery of projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results.

    You will be able to show you have had 3-5 years of experience in this area and ideally you will have experience of working in the field of low carbon energy engineering systems for domestic, commercial and industrial buildings. You will have a keen eye for detail and have strong interpersonal skills.

    We will want you to join our journey toward a more environmentally and technically responsible and effective way of designing energy systems; moving away from conventional processes into a more innovative and free-thinking environment.

     

    Knowledge and Qualifications

  • A higher diploma or bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 3-5 years experience in relevant fields of project management/engineering design.
  • Numerate and with an understanding building services and energy system designs
  • Experience of working in the renewables sector

     

    Skills

  • Excellent organisational, time management and planning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Key ability in managing different personalities.
  • Understanding of Heat and Utility Networks is desirable.
  • Competent in the use of MS Project, AutoCAD and Procore
  • Fully IT proficient; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email systems, etc. as a minimum.
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills.
  • Creative, inquisitive and enjoys solving problems.
  • Willingness to question conventional processes.

     

    Remuneration and Info 

  • Remuneration: Base £38,000 - £42,000 (depending on experience).
