Job Description

Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster

Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver "better trained sailors to the front line faster".

Building on well-established eLearning support, this role will work to develop the digital skills of our learners and promote the use of new technology across the Learning Hub and wider learning community. Additionally, the role will support individual Royal Navy students in their use of digital learning platforms to improve the chances of success in Functional Skills English and maths.

This is a part time fixed term contract to cover maternity, working 22 hours per week. What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting to learners to develop their digital skills and confidence in the use of a variety of digital systems/platforms
  • Coaching individuals and small groups of learners in the use of digital platforms to support learning in Functional Skills English and maths
  • Actively contribute to local, regional and national communities of practice to review our processes and practices
  • Engaging in Continuing Professional Development to maintain digital skills and functional skills

What we're looking for:

  • Good IT skills using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently
  • GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent
  • Ability to manage workloads and prioritise effectively

Project Selborne is a 1 billion, 12-year contract which commenced operations on 1 April 2021. It is a strategic partnership between Team Fisher (a consortium of partners, led by Capita) and the Royal Navy, to transform 80% of shore-based training for sailors, submariners and marines.
