Role: Industrial Electrician.

Location: We are currently looking to recruit an Industrial Electrician to work within our maintenance department of our Process & Pumping business area, at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you? The role will be covering the Wakefield, Huddersfield and Halifax areas of Yorkshire. This is a mobile role, and you must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the areas you will be covering.

 

Work type: This is a permanent opportunity, working rotational work patterns to cover 24/7 working. The current work pattern is working 37 hours over a rolling 4-day week, Monday to Friday 7.30 to 17.15. Once fully trained you will need to participate in an out of hours standby rota, therefore you need to be flexible outside of core hours.

The maintenance department are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

As an Industrial Electrician, you will undertake maintenance of Yorkshire Waters Electrical and Mechanical assets across wastewater treatment and pumping installations.  Mobile working as part of a Maintenance Team to deliver Planned & Reactive maintenance.  Responding to emergency calls both in and out of hours (on call-out rota).  Driving to deliver improved asset reliability through effective decision making.

 

Where you fit in:

 

As an Electrician you will be required to work unsupervised in remote geographic locations and be accountable for the completion of planned and reactive electrical tasks within agreed timescales, quality, and cost parameters.

 

Candidates will be expected to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively and to build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers, and contract partners. Adhering to the Health and Safety policy and standards actively identifying hazards, providing mitigation, and reporting onto the company hazard database to ensure the cause of the hazard is removed.

 

You will be required to supervise approved Contract Partners, providing risk assessments and method statements where permit to work is required for a given task. You will also be required to use a Toughbook/iPad to capture all work activity and job status in line with workflow processes. Assist in the development and training of apprentices as well as less experienced members of the team, identifying ways to improve the value and service delivered by the Maintenance Function within Process & Pumping. Installation & commission new plant and equipment to relevant standards is essential. Diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plant.

 

You will pro-actively identify and report follow on work or areas for enhancement. You will conduct your own risk assessments and create appropriate method statements when required to safely carry out maintenance activities. The successful candidate will have the ability to specify parts and equipment required for procurement as part of day-to-day role.

 

 

What skills, experience & qualifications you will need:

  • It is an essential requirement that you hold a recognised Electrical Craft/Technician Apprenticeship and either a City & Guilds/ ONC/ BTEC/ NVQ/ HNC/ HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Eng Tech.

 

It is desirable that you hold the following qualifications:

  • IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City and Guilds 2382-18)
  • CompEx 1 - 4
  • HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering

 

It is a mandatory requirement that you can demonstrate experience and knowledge in:

  • Safe isolation to the current IET regulations
  • As a time served industrial electrician
  • Fault finding on control circuits up to the PLC.
  • IT literate e.g., MS office
  • Ability to produce maintenance reports.
  • Experience of fault finding with industrial motors and starters
  • Experience fault finding with industrial 3 phase systems.
  • Experience working with rotating equipment.
  • Experience of fault finding on LV control circuits

 

It is desirable that you can demonstrate experience and knowledge in:

  • Experience of pneumatics.
  • Work within ATEX standards.
  • Experience of maintaining UPS systems.
  • Fault finding experience of soft start or variable speed drives.
  • Fault finding experience of actuated valves.

 

You will be required to visit sites across the Yorkshire Region therefore a full valid driving licence (with no more than six points) is essential.

 

It is desirable that you hold the following qualifications:

Ideally, you will have previous experience gained as an industrial electrician within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors. You will have a proven track record of maintaining and repairing 3 phase rotating machinery and associated control systems. You will have a systematic approach to fault finding using industry best practice, where required the ability to share and mentor others.

 

 

As part of this role, you will be required to work within confined spaces, any successful candidate must pass strict medical criteria including, BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and Spirometry tests to ensure your full safety when working in hazardous environments.
