/ Position: Facilities Operative                  
/ Location: Bournemouth
/ Working Hours: 5-5-4 Shift Pattern, 7am-7pm

 

Gama Aviation is currently recruiting for a talented Facilities Operative to join our Facilities team at our modern base site in Bournemouth. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for completing a wide range of maintenance within our site to ensure all areas are safe, well-maintained and ready to be enjoyed by our staff and visitors!

 

We are looking for an individual who will ideally have a strong background in facilities maintenance and/or general DIY dealing with emergency repairs, preventative maintenance routines and moving of equipment. The ability to work safely and efficiently is essential. / Responsibilities:

  • Complete general light building/site maintenance and repairs including (but not limited to) hangar floor scrubbing to changing light bulbs, replacing door fittings, moving equipment and furniture, disposing of industrial waste materials, wall mounting items, and any other similar tasks
  • Ensure the overall upkeep and tidiness of the facility is kept to a high standard
  • Assist in the design and build of ad-hoc support equipment
  • Regular monitoring and replenishment of heating oil level as required
  • Escorting external contractors and visitors around the site
  • Assist with weekly Fire Alarm and related tests
  • Assist with regular legionella tests and flushing through of water systems
  • Identify and communicate any facilities related issues or requirements to the Facilities Manager
  • Erecting and dismantling segregated work compounds
  • Occasional collecting and delivering of parts etc between company sites, suppliers, and customers
  • Travel to other UK and overseas sites may be required on an infrequent basis

 

/ Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:

 

Essential

  • Experience providing hands on facilities and building maintenance / DIY skills
  • Experience of working with a variety of different tools on a daily basis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs including Word and Excel
  • Reliable and punctual individual
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively, as well as being a strong team player
  • Have an eye for detail and able to work to processes and procedures
  • A full UK driving licence is required

    Advantageous

  • Experience within the aviation/aerospace industry will be highly advantageous
  • Forklift and cherry picker/IPAF (MEWP – mobile elevated working platform) licences beneficial
  • Apprenticeship/Qualification in mechanical discipline would be beneficial
  • Willingness to work as part of the out of hours on call team to support customer projects
