About the role

HSDC is seeking to appoint a reliable and caring Technician at our Havant Campus to work as part of the Fashion & Textiles team within the College's Art department, providing technical support to staff and students.

The post holder will be responsible for the daily operation of the learning environment equipment and teaching resources, and the supervision of designated learning areas. The ideal candidate will be organised, with the ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all ages and levels.

14 hours a week / 38 weeks per year

Salary: Grade 3 Spine Point 10 £22,293.34 (actual salary:£7,332.24)

Contract type: Fixed-term until August 2025 or return of substantive postholder

You will be responsible for

  • To organise daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation of teaching resources and housekeeping
  • To provide assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment.For specific departments this may include work placements and instructing/directing of students.
  • To undertake reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and undertake risk assessments.
  • Clean and maintain working spaces, develop working environment, provide technical support and assistance for projects.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment and prepare replacement plans.
  • To implement and maintain the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all other related Health and Safety legislation and regulations.

You will need

  • Relevant industrial/subject experience.
  • Experience of ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels
  • Working knowledge of the relevant curriculum area
  • Understanding and awareness of Health and Safety legislation
  • A Level 2 qualification in the relevant subject area or relevant industry experience is desirable.
  • Technical qualification in the relevant subject area is desirable.
