Up to £42,166.80 per annum

Full time - Permanent, 42.5hrs per week, Monday to Friday

Including company vehicle and fuel card

Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers whilst their claim is being assessed in three regions: Northwest, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. At the end of May 2021 Mears had over 19000 service users across the three regions. Mears work in partnership with central and local Government, registered providers, tenants, landlords and investors to find solutions to homelessness, provide more social and affordable housing and create specialist housing for people with care needs.

About the Role:

Due to contract expansion, we are hiring a Gas Engineer to join our team in Belfast. The main duties of the role is to carry out a range of gas work to our clients housing stock to ensure that gas appliances and installations which are worked on are safe for continued use. To safeguard the service users, members of the public, client's personnel and Mears employees from any potential danger associated with gas. The gas engineer has a lot of responsibilities when undertaking gas work, repairs, service and installation, as accuracy and commitment to doing the work correctly is very important. There will be times when the applicant will have to work in properties which are occupied by vulnerable service users, uncooperative service users and animals. The gas operative will be responsible for the safe keeping of all issued Gas Forms-Labels / Test Equipment / Flue Gas Analyser devices or any other Mears equipment issued to and in use by the Mears Gas Operatives.

Role Criteria:

  • Qualified to City and Guilds/ Gas Service Engineer standard and hold appropriate ACS certification
  • Knowledge of Domestic properties and associated gas Installations.
  • Good understanding of current legislation, Building Control requirements and Governing body requirements
  • Good written & verbal communication skills, Numeracy skills, Able to understand & follow standard operating procedures,
  • Able to use a PDA following training.
  • Able to work alone as well as part of a team
  • Puts the customer first
  • Full UK manual driving license

As part of the recruitment process for this role, we will carry out a DBS & BPSS check, as well as Security Clearance.
