Gleeds are proud to be supporting the delivery of a landmark UK Defence programme spanning major upgrades, renewals and new build developments across a national estate over a minimum of 3 years.
We are searching for a Health & Safety Consultant to join our defence team in supporting the safe design assurance & delivery across a range of construction projects.
Your key focus will be environmental factors relating to the project, and you will be responsible for advising on appropriate measures & actions throughout design & delivery of different projects to ensure high health & safety standards & processes are maintained.

Who we’re looking for:The role will be permanently based on a large construction project and the successful candidate must be someone who can work independently. The role will require both high-level monitoring of a principal contractor and the candidate must be able to act on behalf of the client whilst maintaining a collaborative and positive relationship with the contractor.
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills - Sound construction related health and safety management experience post Tech IOSH qualification;
- Experience of delivering services on a live construction site;
- Cohesive knowledge of construction methods and materials;
- Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience of construction related health and safety management;
- Thorough understanding of health and safety legislation relating to construction;
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and written;
- Methodical way of thinking and approach to work;
- Good problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills;
- Ability to prepare first class bids for services;
- Competent ICT skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams.
Qualifications - NEBOSH Construction and General Certificates/Tech IOSH minimum (will be considered with right amount of experience and other qualifications)
- NEBOSH Diploma/CMIOSH preferred.
