Operational HR Practitioner

Salary: Band: 9, £36,647 - £40,220 per annum

37 hours per week

Location:  Civic Office (Hybrid working available)

Your new role

HR is responsible for providing a service that is fit for purpose and understands the needs of the business. An operational function that provides a comprehensive and professional Employee Relations service to the City Council, Schools and Academies.

HR practitioners are the link between the business and the employee.  We are looking for an experienced and confident self-starter with significant HR experience where the main focus is providing delivery and strong, professional employee relations and customer focused support and advice to managers across all our services.   

In this interesting and varied role, you will be working closely with services, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting and supporting line managers to deliver solutions.  You will be part of the employee relations team working in partnership to understand customer needs. This will involve managing and advising on complex employee relations case work and delivering a full range of operational employee relations case work activities.  With a good understanding of safeguarding principles and legislation and an understanding of LADO and SAMA you will ensure high standards of customer service. In addition, you will support senior managers with the delivery of organisational change programmes and provide guidance to disciplinary and grievance panels.

What you'll need to succeed

We are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills who is able to work with people at all levels whilst driving motivation and self-awarenessWith the ability to manage conflicting demands whilst dealing with high volume enquires you will be CIPD qualified, have proven equivalent experience or willing to work towards being CIPD qualified. You will have experience of working with policies and procedures with the ability to interpret and implement these.  You will have proven successful experience of Operational HR delivering successful outcomes on complex employee matters and case work.  You will have as well as proven experience of providing professional advice to Senior Manager/Head Teachers assisting them to drive business processes.  You will also have experience of working with and negotiating with Trade Unions.
