Working 40 hours per week with a competitive salary of £29,036 per annum, alongside market leading benefits detailed below.
As Catering assistant, you'll assist in preparing and cooking meals for some 1300 Prisoners three times per day, alongside providing a daily meal for our valued staff members.
Duties:
- Supporting the delivery of a four-week menu cycle of a varied and diverse menu options
- Controlling the receipt, storage, and issue of resources.
- Providing support to Prisoners to increase their catering knowledge, thus increasing their employability and reduction to re-offending.
- Supporting the induction phase of all new prisoner workers, in both the main kitchen and staff canteen.
- Maintaining all food safety/ health and safety regulations.
- Meeting agreed prison targets which will be identified in your personal development review (PDR) and reviewed regularly throughout the year.
- Follow any reasonable requests given by the Catering Manager and Supervisor.
The ideal candidate - what we're looking for in you:
- City and Guilds 7132/06-07 or 706/2 diploma in food production and cooking or equivalent.
- Qualification in Food Safety level 3
- Able to work in a large and busy catering environment with flexibility and a responsive approach and attitude.
- Resilient and patient, not fazed by working with Prisoners as part of their work regime.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to challenge with humility.
- Good time management, able to work within strict timeframes.
- Have an interest in rehabilitation and resettlement of offenders and to always be able to communicate effectively.
