About the Role

Base Location: Atwick / Aldbrough, Yorkshire

Salary: £39,415 - £45,136 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, and wellbeing.

SSE Thermal currently have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our gas storage business.

You will be tasked with effective implementation of maintenance, development and ongoing project work on the mechanical systems and standards on our gas storage sites. This will include providing first line maintenance support, fault diagnosis to root cause analysis on critical plant and equipment and assisting in the preparation of maintenance schedules. You may at times supervise a team of staff and contractors to ensure work is completed to a high standard in terms of safety and quality and all relevant systems are updated.

Key responsibilities:

- Carry out routine, planned and breakdown maintenance efficiently and in a timely manner, so that the plant and equipment is available and in good working order to meet operational requirements and budgetary constraints.

- Investigate, analyse, and rectify both simple and complex faults on critical plant and equipment possibly under pressure due to operational requirements.

- Supervise contractor's activities when required so that work is undertaken to the company's requirements and safety instructions.

- Recommend post design modifications to installed systems. Carry out any such modifications that are approved and within capabilities.

- Report on maintenance and rectification work carried out. Maintaining plant maintenance recording system.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Mechanical qualification such as time served apprenticeship or ONC or equivalent.

- Experience of mechanical maintenance on process plant associated with the Oil, Gas or Petrochemical industries.

- Initiative, commitment and be able to work well under pressure.

- A working knowledge of computer-based asset management system e.g. Maximo.

- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills and be detail orientated.

- As you will travel to different sites it is essential you have a full driving licence and will be required to work flexibly to ensure the facilities are running to their maximum efficiency.
