Multi Skilled Technician

We are currently recruiting multiple multi-skilled Technicians to join our team in East London, IG11. As an Multi multi-skilled technician you will be working at the largest sewage treatment works in the UK, you will be presented with unique challenges daily, as well as gain experience in a wide range of plants and equipment.
This role will involve you working on mechanical pumps so a background in Mechanical Engineering will be beneficial. You will required to undergo maintenance on these pumping machines so knowledge of Electrical Engineering, will support you daily.
Our multi-skilled technicians are internally referred to as Dual Skilled Technicians.
What you’ll be doing as a Multi Skilled Technician

• Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
• Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
• Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
• Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
• Working out of Beckton, East London, you will be working a 38-hour week.

What should you bring to the role?
We feel it would be beneficial that the successful candidates have a background of:

• Significant experience within the engineering sector.
• Experience working with pumping or wastewater treatment is beneficial.
• Ideally hold a Mechanical Engineering qualification up to or above Level 3.
• An understanding of Electrical Engineering would also benefit you within this role.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies and processes are essential.
• The work will require physical fitness as you will work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
• A valid driving licence is essential.
• All necessary PPE clothing, equipment and tools are provided.
• You will need to undertake role-specific training to fulfil any safety and team competency requirements.
