Job Title: Operability Systems Engineer

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide SQEP to the SSNA Integrated Combat Systems Capability Lead and Operability Lead that is commensurate with the risk and complexity of the programme
  • Providing innovative and forward leaning solutions
  • Review deliverables and provide assurance throughout the program, ensuring that appropriate rigour is applied to assumptions, methods, reporting of results, conclusions drawn, and recommendations made
  • Support Technical Authorities and Engineering teams in the compilation and writing of documentation
  • Review outputs e.g. presentations and reports, to ensure that they are correct and suitable for the intended audience
  • Development of User requirements
  • Partnership working across team and organisational boundaries
  • Working with suppliers to test all forms of operability
  • Maintain awareness of current and future demand requirements
  • Implementing BAE Submarine's policies and processes, ensuring compliance with the Management System

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of current Royal Navy Submarine Combat Systems, specifically above water sensors
  • Technical and operational expertise of Royal Navy Submarine Combat Systems
  • Extensive knowledge of submarine operations
  • Able to develop networks and use these to resolve issues/challenges

Desirable

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/ Physics/ Maths/ Science) or Human Factors
  • Astue class experience

The SSNA Engineering Delivery Team:

The Engineering Delivery Team collaborates across several southern site locations and is responsible for the design, delivery and operability of the SSNA Combat System. The team is divided into sub-system engineering design teams each led by a Sub-System Technical Lead. The successful candidate will be work closely with the Above Water Surveillance sub-system team and the Capability and Operability Leads.
