About You

As a prospective Platform Team Manager, you are a seasoned professional with a rich background in infrastructure management and technical leadership. Your experience spans complex technology environments where you have demonstrated your capability to lead with confidence and strategic foresight. You are adept at driving team performance, nurturing talent, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture.

Your technical acumen includes deep knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, Virtualisation, Storage, and Security systems, coupled with a solid understanding of DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IAC). You are also familiar with working under tight deadlines and managing high-security environments, making you adept at handling pressure with ease and professionalism.

You are a strong communicator and an effective leader who values teamwork, is attentive to details, and possesses excellent problem-solving skills. About the Team

The Platform team manage the company’s entire core platform delivering products worldwide to tens of thousands of customers. The team span 1st to 4th line and engineers possess broad experience of different technologies with some generalists and some specialists. Together they are a strong and growing team always striving to innovate and improve the platform at all levels.

About the Role

We are on the hunt for a dynamic and experienced Platform Team Manager to lead our dedicated Platform team. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the continuous development, management, and maintenance of our core platform, which delivers innovative products worldwide. Your main goal will be to ensure flawless implementation of new systems, platforms, and upgrades. Daily tasks will include managing workloads, resources, performance, and providing coaching and mentoring to your team. You will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards for our IT systems and pushing beyond to exceed our service level agreements.

 

  • To provide a robust, secure, scalable Infrastructure that supports the needs of the company and customers.  
  • Manage 3rd line issues, ensuring BAU, project work and tickets are delivered in a timely way.
  • To develop and share best practices with the team, staff 121’s and manage staff resources.
  • Recruit and develop staff, nurturing their talent and developing their careers.
  • Understand the lifecycle of the estate, hardware and software.
  • Be a point of contact for major incidents, problems and issues.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, contributing to the overall design of the estate.
  • Promote standardisation and innovation and be proactive in looking for opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Responsible for ensuring KPIs around availability and security are met
  • To ensure all changes to the environment are managed and communicated effectively.  
  • Perform prescribed daily, weekly, monthly and annual technical & security tasks.  
  • Demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity and promote non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of work undertaken.  
  • Promote good practice in working in various locations, remaining adaptable to suit the business needs.

Experience:

 

  • Experience with providing technical infrastructure leadership
  • Extensive experience of working in complex technology environments
  • Experience with Windows, Active Directory, Virtualisation, Storage and Security systems
  • Awareness of DevOps and IAC
  • Ability to understand emerging technologies       
  • Ideally used to working in Secure environments e.g. police, defence etc
  • Experience of being the final point of escalation
  • At least 5 years experience in a senior role

Our Process

Our talent acquisition team will be in touch if you're successful, the team will arrange a short screening call (max 30 minutes) to learn more about you, and what you are looking for and answer any questions you may have. If all goes well, the team will share your profile with the hiring manager for review. Our interview process is tailored to each role but typically the first half of the process is run remotely with a final stage on-site.

For this position, you can expect a two-stage interview process:

1st stage - An informal 30-60 minute video call with the hiring team to discuss your skills and relevant experience. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the role and ask any questions.

2nd Stage – A 60-minute formal interview where you can expect both competency and technical questions. This can be held either in person or remotely.
