Job Description

Applications are invited for the above post within the Reception services team at Martlesham Police Headquarters.

The role of Reception Clerk provides an initial point of contact for visitors, enquiries, and correspondence to Police Headquarters.

Duties will include issuing passes to visitors and contractors by ensuring the relevant computer systems including vetting have been checked, processing and issuing warrant/I.D cards and producing security door access.

Assist with the efficient running of a postal system ensuring incoming and outgoing post is ready for collection.

This post may also be required to answer Facilities calls and group emails in the event of staffing issues, referring on to colleagues as needed.

It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide range of people
•  Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Ability to demonstrate good written communication skills with a high level of accuracy and close attention to detail
• Ability to operate in a team environment
• Ability to exercise self-motivation and to work with minimal supervision
• Basic keyboard skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
• Previous clerical/administrative experience

It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

• Previous experience of working in reception area, dealing with a wide range of people, both internal and external

Hours 22.5 per week over three days on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
