RNAS Culdrose, Helston, TR12 7RH
Permanent, full time 38 hours per week (Monday- Friday)

Serco are recruiting for RN Support Engineering Manager to join the team based at RNAS Culdrose. The key focus of this role is to lead and coordinate all necessary activity to ensure the delivery of all professional contractual, and operational matters for the teams across RNAS Culdrose and to support the development of workforce ensuring fit for the future.

 

Our RN Support Engineering Manager will lead a team across the Serco Engineering and Asset Management portfolio for Royal Navy Support contracts with a significant focus on personnel and operational capability, ensuring excellent service to the customer, strong financial returns, service improvements and business growth.   You will lead all operational activity, inspiring and developing your team, embracing our Values in both thought and action, and ensuring that policies and processes are in place, in line with the Serco Management System, to govern your areas of responsibility, mitigate risk and meet all business and legislative requirements. 

 

Main accountabilities 

 

  • Oversee the management and operational delivery of teams in the RN Support portfolio, ensuring effective governance control, to enable sustained ability to meet contractual obligations.  
  • The establishment and operation of an organizational structure, in terms of personnel, procedures and geographical layout that provides a sound framework for safe efficient and effective engineering activity.
  • Ensure all Serco personnel are in receipt of the correct engineering authorisations and hold up to date competency checks in accordance with the RA series.
  • Support the development and assessment of the apprentices on contract to meet the NVQ Level 3 requirements.
  • The management, care, custody and security of all personnel and equipment assets within their charge.
  • Ensuring that the required engineering standards and authorised practices are employed across their teams. 
  • Ensuring that an integrated Quality Management System and Quality culture exist.
  • Identify and implement strategic service improvements across the Contract.
  • Manage and develop the customer base providing our customers with innovative solutions and capability options to support their transformation plans and business goals.
  • Identify organic business growth and work closely with the Contract Lead to identify and deliver new growth on the Contract.
  • Ensure our employees understand and adopt our business strategy and plans so that they are successfully delivered.
  • Ensure employees are given support to grow and develop to their potential and are managed in a way that maximises their engagement.

 

What you'll need to do the job

 

  • An experienced Aircraft Engineer
  • A minimum of 10-years' experience in either a Civil or Military aviation environment
  • Knowledge of MAA, CAA & EASA Part 145 Regulations/Approvals
  • Hold or have the ability to hold Level G/H Engineering Authorisations
  • Be or have the ability to hold an A1/A2 NVQ Assessor to Level 3 standard in aeronautical engineering.
  • Understanding of all Civil and Military Airworthiness Safety Regulations
  • Proven leadership and management skills, able to enthuse, inspire and engage.
  • Creative thinking, able to develop business improvement ideas and innovate.
  • An excellent communicator, with well-developed presentation skills and a first-class influencer
  • Capable of thinking and working both strategically and operationally.
  • Capable of developing partnerships and professional relationships with customer, sub-contractors and key stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
