About the role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland.

Salary: £45,400 - £68,200 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) Assurance Specialist is a highly technical, competent, professional role in the SSEN Transmission SHW team that ensures the SSEN Transmission business establishes and maintains a robust, fit for purpose and assured SHW management system and associated assurance arrangements. This position is critical to the provision of risk-based SHW governance processes to ensure SSEN Transmission is made aware of the level of compliance with SHW duties imposed by statute and Group standards and the effective auditing and assurance activities based on approved governance arrangements.

- Ensure the necessary SHW Assurance support and guidance is provided to enable the SSEN Transmission business to manage their SHW risks.

- Assessing and reporting on SHW compliance with SSE standards, SSEN Transmission policies and procedures and relevant regulations through delivery of the Annual SHW Assurance Programme.

- Support the development of the risk-based SHW Assurance Programme with relevant aims, objectives and protocols in conjunction with the SHW Support Manager.

- Play a lead role in the management and delivery of Transmission Project Safety Reviews (PSR) which are a critical component of the SSE Large Capital Projects governance process.

- In order to implement SSE Group and SSEN Transmission requirements, key SHW projects may be assigned to the SHW Assurance Specialist by the SHW Support Manager to be delivered within the SSEN Transmission business.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Degree level SHW qualifications or equivalent knowledge gained through experience in an electricity Networks business or major construction business (minimum of 5 years preferred).

- Lead Auditor qualification and/ or extensive experience preferably gained within an electricity Networks business incorporating best practice into SHW audit processes in large organisations.

- Sound knowledge of the SHW aspects of design, planning, construction, maintenance and operational field practices in the electrical Transmission/ Distribution industry.

- Well organised, structured, systematic approach, with the ability to identify and analyse complex technical issues, understand risks and implement appropriate solutions.

- Good ability to organise, prioritise workload under own initiative and critically assess own performance.
