Job title: Senior Aerodynamicist (Loads)

Salary: £47,683 - £52,426 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you'll be doing:

  • The computation, simulation and analysis of aerodynamic loads leading to the creation of evidence in support of aircraft qualification.
  • Supporting the Aerostructures Group Leader, the Project Technical Specialists and directing less experienced engineers within the team.
  • Providing quality assurance and review of own and junior engineers work as to the technical accuracy and completeness of all tasks.
  • Personal development and knowledge acquisition in the aerodynamic loads specialism, with opportunities to develop towards a future Project Technical Signatory position within the team
  • Continuing personal development in the Loads and Aerostructures specialisms, with opportunities to develop towards Project Technical Specialist and Line Management positions.
  • Support to capability development and in-service support activities on the Typhoon, Hawk and Tornado projects

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Degree level qualification in a STEM subject
  • Proven track record and evidence based experience within engineering (or equivalent postgraduate) related to the aerostructures discipline, in particular aerodynamic loads, CFD, structures or other interfacing disciplines
  • Experience of working with aircraft simulation and modelling tools (such as CFD, ADAMS, NASTRAN, MATLAB, FEM or similar)

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with customers, suppliers and partners on a number engineering programmes
  • Great team working & interpersonal skills

The In-Service Aircraft Aerodynamics Aerostructure Team:

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Senior Aerodynamicist (Loads) based at either Warton or Brough. The role will specialise in the simulation and analysis of aerodynamic loads on in-service aircraft and also support new aircraft programmes, leading to the creation of qualification evidence in support of aircraft clearances.

The role will support maintaining and developing the relationship with various stakeholders (including the Group Leader, Technical Authority, European Partner Companies, EuroFighter, NETMA, MODs and their agents) in delivering technically robust and justifiable clearance evidence within project time and cost constraints. In addition, the successful candidate will support the continual improvement of the processes and tools used, as well as sharing best practice across different platforms and discipline areas.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about technical engineering with significant prior knowledge and experience working within the aerostructures or interfacing discipline areas. Career progression is encouraged and supported within the team and the wider business, and this role will offer the opportunity to develop towards a Project Technical Specialist role and be ready to supervise the day to day work and development of junior engineers.
