Senior Coastal Change Officer (Engagement)

Job Description

The job itself

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is looking for an experienced and inspiring individual to lead on the development, coordination and delivery of innovative stakeholder planning and engagement activities across the Changing Coasts East Riding project.

Changing Coasts East Riding is part of the national Coastal Transition Accelerator Programme, supporting vulnerable communities in planning for and responding to the impacts of coastal change. This role provides an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of climate change resilience within the East Riding.

You will use your creative flair to plan and coordinate our programme of engagement with business, industry and community groups to promote greater environmental resilience. Your focus will be to maximise the impact of the project through innovative engagement techniques and materials, frequently adapting and applying learning as the project progresses, alongside managing changing priorities and stakeholder relationships. You will use your experience and passion to reflect and share learning from engagement activities to inform the monitoring, evaluation and learning theme of the Changing Coasts East Riding project.

As a coastal champion, you will work with internal colleagues, partners and communities to develop a new, long-term approach to coastal transition within the East Riding, while actively supporting communities to deliver on-the-ground adaptation.

This role requires a candidate who can think innovatively, forge excellent relationships with a range of people and organisations and deliver an ambitious programme of work on time. You should have experience of working with a range of stakeholders (including public, private and community) to deliver a programme of successful community engagement.
