Job title: Senior Manager - Mechanical Engineering (Platform Combat Systems)

Salary: £56,667 - £73,333

What you'll be doing:

In this role you will be joining the Platform Major Systems Team, reporting to the Engineering Integration Delivery Director. You will be working with a wide range of stakeholders within the BAE Systems Submarine network, these will include, Engineering, Build Teams, Test & Commissioning teams along with Operations. Externally you will be closely working with the Supplier, and may be required to attend their site when needed.

You ill be responsible for all Platform Combat Systems (PCS) Engineering Management activities associated with the design, delivery, commissioning and acceptance of Mechanical Systems for Dreadnought Class Submarines. This role includes collaboration with, and technical management of, key partners in the Supply Base in order to technically and programmatically integrate the PCS equipment and systems into out Submarine programmes.

Your skills and experiences:

  • Previous Mechanical Engineering background is preferred
  • Demonstrable leadership/management experience
  • Projects and or planning execution exposure
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders & suppliers
  • Strong influencing, communication and relationship building skills
  • Qualified to degree level in STEM subject preferred, OR extensive experience within a similar role
  • Chartership (Desirable)

The Platform Major Systems team:

Join our team and help deliver critical Platform Combat Systems capability into our UK Royal Navy Submarines platforms. The role is fast paced, working across key stakeholders across industry to design, build and commission key mechanical systems. The role will allow you to develop experience of supporting the life cycle from design right through to the generation of validation evidence against the system requirements and apply this across Submarines in the same class. There will be opportunity to expand this experience in to multiple classes of Submarine as the work develops across the BAE Systems Submarine portfolio, including Astute, Dreadnought, SSSN-AUKUS and our in-service platforms.
