We’re looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our IT Services Team.

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for providing the tooling, processes and support that his or her team requires to reliably deploy applications to production and detect issues and rollback changes quickly.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that Service Level Objectives are met, and applications can scale to cope with demand.

Your Responsibilities

  • Maintaining documentation and runbooks, ensuring that the knowledge acquired in SRE is available across the organisation and built into the squads as a discipline
  • Supporting shared services that are used in development, testing and production environments (e.g. Gitlab, Concourse, Jenkins etc.)
  • Improving the efficiency of the software development processes by providing tooling and guidance that improves infrastructure resilience, security and cost optimisation
  • Supporting your team in dealing with operational issues such as availability, performance and scalability Influencing Service Level Objectives, Non-Functional Requirements and infrastructure requirements
  • Highlighting deviations from technology standards to the TDA (Technical Design Authority)
  • Ensuring that the Service Level Objectives in your area are met

Your Experience

Does this sound like you?

  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux administration
  • Experience with AWS is essential
  • Experience with application containerisation platforms and registry e.g. Docker & ECR
  • A background in at least one of the following scripting languages (Bash, Python, Go)
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Java
  • Some experience with configuration management tools and infrastructure as code (we use a mixture of Ansible and CloudFormation)
  • Some practical experience with CI/CD tools (we use Jenkins and Concourse CI)
  • A background in software development is considered a plus
