Job Description

Due to the continued success of our Apprenticeship programme we are thrilled to confirm we will be opening up another two Software Development Apprentice opportunities to join our September 2024 cohort.

This offers a combination of academic learning and practical experience, enabling you to kickstart your career in the dynamic field of software development while earning a level 4 qualification.

What does a day in the life of a Data Software Development Apprentice look like?

Throughout your two-year apprenticeship at Aiimi, you’ll learn a range of skills specifically designed to prepare you for a successful career in Software Development. Looking beyond the nuts and bolts of development and data itself, you’ll learn about business operations, different stakeholder roles, and the impacts of Development on different organisations.

You will also pursue a level 4 qualification in Software Development with Milton Keynes College, equipping you with the academic foundation necessary for success in this field.

Please note that there will be a 4 day/1 day split between working in the office and your studies.

You will have the opportunity to experience:

 

  • Software development lifecycles
  • Agile ceremonies by working as part of a scrum team. These will include regular stand ups, retrospectives, sprint reviews etc.
  • Gaining skills in areas such as Software development, quality assurance and User Experience
  • Building you technical knowledge in areas such as C#, SQL, Python, .Net, Angular, Elastic Search and more

Requirements

Whether you’ve recently left school, have workplace experience, are self-taught, or perhaps you’re looking for a career change we are open to your application, however we do ask for the following:

  • You must either be based in Milton Keynes or within a 30 minute commutable distance from Milton Keynes (this is due to the 4 days a week on-site mandatory requirement)
  • A passion and interest in all things tech & innovation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Any knowledge of Python or similar tech stacks are advantageous

Please note you are only eligible for Apprenticeship funding if you have:

  • Been a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least three years before the programme starts
  • Left full-time education before the programme starts
  • The right to live and work in the UK

Apprentices without Level 2 English and mathematics will need to achieve this level before taking the End-Point Assessment.
