A great opportunity to be involved in activities working across the entire software engineering lifecycle, from discussing requirement change with the Systems team, all the way to being involved with qualification and software releases!

Job Title: Software Engineer (Ada)

Salary: Circa £55,000 to £65,000 depending on experience 

Location: Bristol (we may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

Due to business growth, we currently have three new Software Engineer opportunities!

We are looking for capable, adaptable and inquisitive software engineers to join the team developing Command and Control (C2), Launch Management and In-Flight Data Link solutions for the next generation of advanced air defence systems.

Activities work across the entire software engineering lifecycle, from discussing requirement change with the Systems team, all the way to being involved with qualification and software releases. Working with innovative technologies across a range of land and maritime defence projects.

MBDA Software Engineering (SE) has an internal SE University, created and delivered by MBDA software engineers to optimally manage and share key knowledge and skills.

What we're looking for from you:

  • A solid background in software development and at least two of the following:

    • Experience in Ada or a strongly typed language e.g. Rust.

    • Safety critical software development experience.

    • Experience of formal design process e.g. UML, MASCOT and tools such as Rhapsody

Desirable experience (but certainly not essential)

  • Knowledge of external standards such as DefStan 00-55 and MISRA

  • Development for embedded Linux

  • Exposure to system testing (on virtualised and real hardware) and host based testing will also form part of the role.

  • System testing on virtualised or real hardware

  • Able to innovate, and think critically to solve complex software problems
