What you will be doing:

As a Software Packaging Engineer , you will be responsible for discovery, creating, testing, deploying, and maintaining software packages for the Azure Virtual Desktop environment and physical Windows devices. You will collaborate with various teams, including AVD engineering, to ensure the efficient delivery and integration of software applications. Your expertise in software packaging and deployment will contribute to the optimization of our technology infrastructure and enhance the overall user experience.

  • Develop and customize software packages for deployment in the Azure Virtual Desktop environment and on physical Windows devices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess software requirements and ensure compatibility with existing systems.

  • Conduct thorough testing of software packages to guarantee functionality, compatibility, and security.

  • Manage the packaging lifecycle, including version control, documentation, and updates, to facilitate efficient software deployment and maintenance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to software packaging and deployment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

  • Stay updated with industry best practices and trends in software packaging, virtualization, and deployment technologies.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and end-users regarding software packaging and deployment procedures.

  • Implement and maintain standardised procedures and guidelines for software packaging to ensure consistency and efficiency.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in software packaging and deployment in both Azure Virtual Desktop and physical Windows environments.

  • In-depth knowledge of software packaging tools, such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Microsoft Intune, or other relevant packaging tools.

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript) and automation tools for software deployment.

  • Strong understanding of software deployment methodologies, version control, and release management.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex software packaging issues.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team environment and interact with various stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable software packages.
