Role Description

LV=GI have a new opportunity for a Strategic Account Manager, reporting to the Head of Intermediary distribution, working in LV Partnerships in the Intermediary Sales & Marketing team, this will be a home working contract with a big presence in the market though active field-based work attending events and leading strategic partner meetings.

Strategic development and overall relationship ownership of key partner accounts within the Intermediary business including P&L ownership of allocated accounts. The role will be operating in a remote & field-based capacity to drive account plans in line with strategic objectives supporting the wider Intermediary strategy and delivering profitability and growth targets in line with budget plans. Your role will be to increase and drive GI penetration rates across allocated partners and support partners with activity in line with driving up Mortgage to GI conversion rates and education on the importance of selling GI under the advised sale process.

Key Accountabilities

  • To achieve agreed targets across a range of products and propositions so that the Intermediary Sales Team achieves its objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with specified accounts to establish LV general Insurance for Intermediaries as the preferred provider for Insurance and seek out and develop new opportunities for acquiring business. Relationships should be developed and maintained from senior executive level, Principal level and Seller level across the entire nominated account portfolio.
  • Analyse performance of account portfolio to identify trends, offering solutions and recommendations internally and externally to drive improved business performance.
  • Collaborate with pricing and underwriting to ensure profitability targets are achieved looking at key financial metrics and making recommendations to drive improvements. This will include all aspects of partner negotiations on contractual and commercial basis.
  • Demonstrate a strong commercial knowledge and own and drive commercial decision making in support of the key financial metrics.
  • Demonstrate actions and initiatives align with the Intermediary strategy and purpose of being easy to do business with and understand how this ladders up to the wider AZP purpose of we secure your future.
  • Implement and deliver account plans for allocated partners with clear objectives aligned with the wider AZP strategy and values.
  • Own and deliver against the set governance framework with records of all meetings and decisions recorded for the purpose of audit activity including annual account reviews.
  • To work in an effective partnership with the regional sales team so that your business plan and contact strategy is implemented, mutual support is delivered, and account needs are met.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders from the wider LV business. 
  • Working closely with the Intermediary marketing team to identify sales & marketing ideas and business opportunities by maintaining regular contact with agreed accounts.
  • Ownership of agreed channel objectives over and above objectives linked to existing account ownership providing an opportunity to learn and develop whilst contributing to the wider team strategy.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge on all relevant products, understanding current and future legislation that may affect your accounts along with key competitor contracts so you can handle objections.
  • Seek to improve sales quality and GI penetration rates within the market so that sales are aligned with LV’s Customer Experience, Treating Customer Fairly Policies, and growth ambitions.
  • Demonstrate your commitment to personal development through ensuring you have a PDP plan and the attendance of training/workshop sessions and completion of relevant CBT’s.
  • Maintain a high level of presentation skills and, in conjunction with your Director/Head of, develop and deliver one to one, group presentations and training sessions to individuals in your account portfolio.
  • Keep up to date with market trends and provide market feedback to wider business in order to assist the development of business opportunities.

About you

  • Strategically minded and focused.
  • Knowledge of the Intermediary market preferred
  • Account Management experienced at a strategic level desirable.
  • Commercially strong with a focus on driving results in line with agreed plan
  • General knowledge of the Insurance Market place and emerging trends
  • Understanding of the value levers that drive the commercial performance of an insurance business.
  • Extensive up to date knowledge of all regulatory requirements for General Insurance Sales
  • Understands and maintains compliance with regulatory requirements. Undertakes required CBT packages.
  • Clearly communicates at all levels and shares knowledge with peer group and the wider AZP business.
  • Understands and reacts accordingly to information being given via different styles.
  • Presentation skills both producing presentations and presenting.
  • Ask open and propping questions to understand all relevant information internally and externally.
  • Express views and ideas with confidence within meetings with key stakeholders
  • Proactively makes suggestions and share ideas on how to improve processes within Insurance.
  • Works with other team members to pursue a common goal of achieving KPI’s and service levels across all of Partnerships.
  • Communicates views and ideas in a positive manner.
  • Shows flexibility to business requirements – performing duties not linked to primary role.
  • Fully embraces team KPI’s and has a positive impact on results.
  • Displays a positive attitude towards achieving agreed team and individual KPI’s.
  • Demonstrates effective time management.
  • Ability to effectively manage remote working and field-based activity in the most efficient way
