Job Description

Salary: Basic salary of £29,712 per year, up to £35,712 with on-target earnings, plus additional £1,000 on-call annual allowance

Contract: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am until 5:00pm

Location: York (Harewood Whin) or Thirsk, North Yorkshire

As a hands-on learner with excellent organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and adept problem-solving skills, you will thrive as a Transport Planner in our dynamic transport team.

 

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the efficient delivery of services within your designated area. Collaborating closely with planners, drivers, customer service advisors, and our broader transport team, your focus will be on providing a customer-centric, cost-effective, and compliant service.

 

We are looking for someone with a high level of IT competency, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite and waste management specific systems. Your positive mindset and logical approach to challenges will be crucial to help you navigate day to day obstacles and challenges.

We are committed to supporting your learning journey across various transport modes, including Bulk Haulage, Hooklift, and Recycling Collection Vehicles.

  • Demonstrates strong organisational and time management skills
  • Communicates and instructs calmly and reassuringly
  • A willingness to learn, develop understanding, and work collaboratively as a team
  • Understands complexities of multi-functional operations and diverse workforce
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to Health and Safety legislation and policy
  • Be willing and able to attend an FTA Operator Awareness course every three years

 

It is possible that the successful applicant may work from our other transport office in Thirsk, therefore we welcome applications from candidates in the Thirsk area.
