Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Age Cymru Dyfed signed the Armed Forces Covenant Pledge in 2020 and holds the MoD Employer’s Recognition Scheme Silver Award. The charity supports older (50yrs-100+yrs old) veterans throughout the West Wales region and is funded by both the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and the Veterans Foundation. The charity includes a small team of former armed forces personnel to provide specific support to older veterans. The charity promotes the Armed Forces Covenant and is a member of the County Council Armed Forces Covenant steering groups in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.  Age Cymru Dyfed actively seeks to employ Reservists, Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers and family members of serving personnel. The charity holds high profile events attracting considerable publicity  most recently in October 2023 when ‘Our Greatest Generation’ attracted 120 veterans, serving personnel, and relatives and featured on BBC Wales television. ACD also hosts the UK Award winning West Wales Veterans Archive which is a digital collection of veterans stories, held in the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Age Cymru Dyfed is long-established regional older persons charity operating throughout the West Wales region. The charity provides information and advice, digital, mental health, dementia, help in the home, befriending and veterans services and employs over 70 staff with many volunteers. It has offices in Aberystwyth, Llanelli, and Haverfordwest.
