Aggie Weston’s

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Our mission at Aggie Weston’s is ‘To be a friend for Royal Navy (RN), Royal Marines (RM) and Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) personnel and their families.’ Aggie’s recognises the value serving personnel and military families bring to our work. We seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant and promote the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation.

We employ Aggie’s Pastoral Workers; working in military establishments and in the service community, to provide friendship and practical support.

We help members of the RN, RM and RFA maintain the link with their children through the Storybook Waves project; by recording a bedtime story for them to listen to when a parent is serving away from home.

We support the employment of Service spouses and partners; through a guaranteed interview scheme for them, provided they meet the criteria for the post.

We offer flexible working patterns where possible to meet the demands of service life; in particular though allowing a degree of leave flexibility for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment.

About us

Our mission at Aggie Weston’s is ‘To be a friend for Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary personnel and their families.’

By its nature, naval life increases the risk of loneliness and isolation. Service personnel are usually geographically separated from the family and friendship network that most civilians have to support them. And when a couple chooses to settle in a Base Port area, the non-serving partner can easily become isolated during deployments. We are about helping the naval community live contented and fulfilling lives.

Our Pastoral Workers are here to listen, encourage, comfort and support; to provide practical help where appropriate and to signpost on to other more specialist organisations if necessary.

Our practical work is an obvious manifestation of a desire to serve our community. However, it also places our Pastoral Workers amongst the service community. By getting to know people, and by being helpful, non-judgemental and trustworthy, our Pastoral Workers will be making themselves more accessible and approachable.
