Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Bedford Borough Council demonstrates its steadfast support for the Armed Forces Covenant through a series of specific commitments aimed at assisting military personnel, adult cadet volunteers, veterans, and their families. Central to this pledge is ensuring fair treatment and opportunities for those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, such as guaranteeing employment prospects, access to essential services, and housing assistance.
The council actively engages with local businesses and organisations to promote the Covenant's principles and encourage their participation in supporting the Armed Forces community. Additionally, Bedford Borough Council strives to raise awareness and recognition of the sacrifices made by service members through various initiatives, including commemorative events and educational programs. By upholding these commitments, the council seeks to foster a culture of appreciation, inclusivity, and support for the Armed Forces within the Bedford Borough community.
