Bishop Grosseteste University

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

As a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, the University pledges to ensure military personnel, including reservists and veterans, are treated fairly. We lead a number of initiatives to support military personnel and their families and in 2019 were awarded the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Silver Award.

We are proud to be at the forefront of work recognising and supporting Service children, working with the Ministry of Defence and a range of other partners to support the educational progression of children from military families, sharing our research and resources across the sector, including leading the Service Children’s Progression (SCiP) Alliance.

About us

Established in 1862, Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) combines its heritage with innovative learning and teaching.

In recent years we’ve undergone an explosion of growth in many areas, remaining a small and friendly university whilst expanding and developing our portfolio of courses into more exciting new areas than ever before. We still consider ourselves experts in education – we have been doing it for over 150 years after all – alongside an exciting range of subjects and roles. We pride ourselves on being a supportive community, always striving to improve the lives of our students.

Today the University employs over 900 members of staff and aims to encourage a positive working environment in which employees are helped to reach their full potential. We offer innovative and forward-thinking teaching with scholars at the forefront of their disciplines. This is combined with an excellent environment for learning underpinned by committed, knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff working in a huge range of roles. Always striving for excellence.
