Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

In November 2018 the Council confirmed its commitment to the Armed Forces by re-signing the Armed Forces Community Covenant and in 2021, we received the Employer Recognition Scheme Silver award. As part of our commitment to the Armed Forces Community Covenant, we commit to:

  • Supporting the Armed Forces community with a guaranteed interview scheme which includes spouses and civil partners of current serving personnel.
  • Promoting the Council as a Armed Forces Friendly organisation.
  • Display the Silver award for the Employer Recognition Scheme and to achieve the Gold award in the future.
  • Support the employment of veterans by working with the Career Transition Partnership.
  • Supporting employees where possible who are members of the Reserve Forces, by granting leave for training and supporting deployment.
