Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Cardiff & Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB) are ERS Gold Award achievers and have a dedicated Armed Forces Lead in the health board along with a Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) Officer imbedded. We are committed to upholding the Armed Forces Covenant for both our patients we treat and our staff we employ. We have started a network of Armed Forces Staff (regulars, reservists, veterans, spouses and adult cadet volunteers) in which we meet for coffee mornings and are working to create a role of Armed Forces Champions across all our sites. We recognise the skills the Armed Forces Community can bring to our health board and welcome them to apply for roles.
About us
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB) has two main acute sites; University Hospital of Wales (UHW) and University Hospital of Llandough (UHL) along with the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital and several other smaller sites.
Our mission is “Caring for People, Keeping People Well”, and our vision is that a person’s chance of leading a healthy life should be the same wherever they live and whoever they are.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board's 10-year transformation and improvement strategy, Shaping Our Future Wellbeing, is our chance to work collaboratively with the public and the Cardiff and Vale UHB workforce to make our health board more sustainable for the future. Together, we can improve equity for all of our patients - both today and tomorrow.
