Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Chesterfield Borough Council is proud to commit to the Armed Forces Covenant for Derbyshire which was reviewed and re-signed in 2019. By doing so, the Council recognises the efforts made by our Armed Forces Community, be they those currently in service (including new recruits and reservists), people of working age who have left the armed forces, those who have performed National Service, veterans beyond retirement age, cadet organisations, the dependants of these groups and also armed forces charities.

We offer a range of benefits to employees including a range of flexible working options, enhanced parental leave, access to 24 hour 7 days a week employee assistance scheme, a generous holiday allowance, paid leave for a range of public duties including up to 10 days per annum for reservist training. We also have discount schemes for car parking, leisure facilities, bus travel etc.

We currently hold the silver award for investors in people and have extensive learning and development and career progression opportunities and we are proud to be a disability confident employer. In 2019 we received the bronze award for the MOD employer recognition scheme and in July 2021 received the Silver award.
