About us
We are a local Council providing services to the residents of Chorley and beyond. We employ around 320 employees in a number of areas both manual and professional roles, and have employed and continue to employ ex-service personnel. Our elected members are committed to supporting the armed forces and the Covenant.

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
We’re really proud to be part of the Armed Services Covenant, that recognises the sacrifices faced by the armed forces community, as well as creating public awareness of the issues that they face.
The commitment comes from the top of the organisation with elected councillors actively supporting our application for the Armed Forces Covenant and the Chorley Remembrance Sunday Commemoration.
Commitment runs through the organisation from front line staff being aware of the services we offer to those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families. We support reservists employed by the Council with paid time off and a commitment to the spouses/partners of reservists and members of the regular armed services at times of deployment, injury or bereavement.
Additional support has been implemented within housing services for armed forces members and veterans and we work closely with the Royal British Legion when looking at adaptations funded through Disabled Facilities Grants for disabled ex-servicemen living in Chorley.
