Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) has always been proud to employ and support people from a military background. We as an organisation can see the benefits of their training and skills. These skills are being applied across the whole of DFRS whether that be in a support role, training or front line operations. In recent years we have formally created a Veterans Support Network.  This network is designed to bring our Veterans together. As a network the main drive is to support other Veterans who may be struggling with any number of issues. Through this network we are helping to educate our workforce about the Veterans community. DFRS will continue this work and will be looking to expand its connections in the Veterans community within the county of Derbyshire.

About us

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) prides itself on the high standard of service it provides to the people of Derbyshire.  There are many different career opportunities. Every role has an important part to play in meeting the vision of "Making Derbyshire Safer Together."

The work of the Service is split into three main categories; Prevention and Protection, which are part of the community safety portfolio, and Response.  DFRS is also required to assess the risks to the communities of Derbyshire and to plan for emergencies within Derbyshire and across the borders as part of a national response to emergencies.

Opportunities are varied and include operational roles such as Firefighters, Trainers and Fire Safety Advisers. DFRS is supported by many Support Service roles, employing a range of skilled and professional people at our Joint Police and Fire Headquarters. The wide range of roles include Administration, specialist Technical Services, IT, Finance and Community work to name a few.
