Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
At Drumfork Nursery, we are dedicated to supporting Military families. We currently have a staff team of 25; 12 of which are Military spouses/partners. Furthermore, some of the remaining 13 staff members are children of Military families. The large number of Military family members in our team helps us provide a friendly and welcoming environment for those who may feel anxious about returning to the workplace, or who may be struggling following relocation.
We pride ourselves in supporting Military family members into the workplace. The Nursery Owners/Directors have first-hand experience of the challenges faced by Military families, and this understanding helps us tailor the support provided. We offer flexible working patterns, for example term-time and/or part-time contracts, that allow Military spouses/partners to work around their family commitments and childcare needs. We also aim to approve requests for leave, and/or organise rotas to allow Military family members the time required to deal with deployment/family occasions/injury/bereavement.
Our Military family members also benefit greatly from our focus on supporting the health and wellbeing of our employees. Our free, BUPA provided, Employee Assistance Programme provides confidential 24/7 support. We have also signed the Mental Health at Work Commitment, and aim to provide personalised support to all employees. Three members of our management team are trained in First Aid for Mental Health and are available daily to provide hands-on support and signpost employees to appropriate agencies, when required.
About us
Drumfork Nursery is based in Helensburgh, and provides a wide range of childcare and education services including:
With a play-based pedagogy, we plan in the moment and stimulate the curiosity of children to support their learning. We provide children with an environment that is enabling and stimulating, and opportunities to engage with concepts and foster skills such as reasoning, creativity and problem solving.
Our passionate practitioners spark and nurture the curiosity of children using open-ended resources and authentic materials, to develop an appreciation of the natural world. We support creative child-initiated play, enabling children to feel intrinsically motivated to explore and investigate using all their senses, whilst supporting them in taking calculated risks and learning from mistakes.
Inclusion is embedded throughout Drumfork Nursery; we provide an environment where children, parents/families and staff feel at-home, comfortable and able to contribute. We celebrate the unique characteristics of each individual and focus on supporting their needs and abilities.
